Under the celestial sky of Crown’s Palladium, 1,400 radiant women gathered to celebrate our annual Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend Gala Dinner. Like shooting stars lighting up the night, our two MCs, Sarah Jones and Kris Smith, dazzled the audience with their charm, keeping everyone riveted to the stage as they shared poignant stories throughout the evening.
The entertainment line-up was nothing short of spectacular, eclipsing our eyes with awe. Transit Dance opened the night with a spellbinding performance that left us all enchanted. Following this, Australian pop-rock legends Boom Crash Opera ignited the stage and dancefloor with their greatest hits! As guests indulged in their main course, they were also mesmerised by Shannon’s stunning aerialist performance. Velvet Corporation, our favourite cover band, closed the entertainment segment, keeping the ladies dancing into the wee hours of the night.
Between entertainment and dining, guests explored the Palladium, discovering an array of delightful treats. From free 5-minute Tarot Readings and pampering at the Beauty Bar to an exciting silent auction, there was never a dull moment.
Amidst the fun, we were reminded of the evening’s deeper purpose by Jenny Hatt, one of the brave and inspiring women in our community. Jenny’s eloquent and honest story resonated throughout the room, reminding us all of the strength and courage within our community.
We also celebrated numerous achievements, starting with our 2024 Diamond of the Year, Helen Barr. Helen’s journey with Challenge began when a family member was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Over 27 years, she has raised over $500,000, organised annual events, and used her professional skills to benefit Challenge, becoming a tireless advocate and bringing joy to many through her initiatives.
Congratulations also to our Sol’s Diamond Raffle winner, Jacqui, who went home with a stunning 3.3 ct diamond tennis bracelet.
A special farewell was given to Danielle Bleazby, our Chair of the Committee, who is stepping down after 14 years of dedicated service. Thank you, Danielle, for your unwavering support and strength. To the incredible Women for Challenge Committee, thank you for your tireless work behind the scenes to deliver such an extraordinary event.
This night wouldn’t have been possible without the support of many incredible people. Our heartfelt thanks go to our sponsors for their generosity, our volunteers for their selflessness and commitment, and our guests for making the night unforgettable.
Before wrapping up, we wanted to share a touching piece of feedback. One guest was moved to tears by a fortune cookie message, crafted by a 16-year-old boy from Challenge, which read: “Never water yourself down. You are perfect and good things come to good people.” This poignant sentiment perfectly captures the spirit of the night. Ladies, remember these words – you are all fabulous and should always celebrate who you are.
Thank you again for joining us! Until 2025 – the countdown is ON!
