From City to Country: Challenge Camp in Cohuna

29 August 2025

There’s something magical about swapping the city skyline for wide-open skies, and that’s exactly what our Challenge campers did on a recent weekend away in Cohuna. Nestled along the picturesque banks of Gunbower Creek, this little town became our home for a few days of laughter, adventure, and connection. From the moment our feet were pitched, there was a buzz of excitement as everyone prepared to discover the unique charms of country life.

Our days were brimming with activities that brought plenty of joy and a good dose of belly laughs. We got up close with farm animals and even fed calves their bottles of milk, a highlight for many of the kids (and grown-ups too!). Some of us tested our swing on the golf course, while others tried their luck fishing along the creek. In between, impromptu games kept the energy high and the giggles flowing. A standout moment was our visit from the local fire department, who not only showed us the ropes but also handed over the hose – letting the kids experience first-hand the thrill of being a firefighter for the day. Their kindness and generosity made the experience all the more memorable.

We are so grateful to Brooke Southern and the entire Cohuna community for putting on such a wonderful camp year after year. Your generosity and warmth make this camp truly special. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to our beautiful volunteers, whose energy and care ensure that every moment is filled with fun, support, and connection.
