Vale, Alysha

11 January 2018

It is with a very heavy heart today that we share the saddening news of the passing of a much-loved and highly respected member of our community, Alysha Beek.

Alysha was a former Challenge patient and in 2008, decided to reconnect with Challenge as a volunteer and camp leader. Over the past 10 years, Alysha has volunteered at many of our events with last year’s Urban Camp in September being her most recent.

Having gone through her own battles at a young age, Alysha made a conscious decision to give back and help other young people facing similar struggles. Alysha’s compassion and determination are a testament to the kind of person she was.

We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Alysha’s passing from a sudden illness. Alysha was one of a kind with her infectious smile and zest for life. She will be dearly missed and indeed left this world too soon at only 28 years of age.

We send our deepest condolences to both Alysha’s family and friends; we hope that they can find comfort in their memories of her.

Thank you, Alysha, for sharing your light with us and may you rest in peace.
