Charlie Tiang Art Scholarship

The Charlie Tiang Art Scholarship was established in memory of Charlie, a beloved Challenge member who sadly lost his brave battle with brain cancer in 2023 at the tender age of seven. Charlie had a spirit larger than life. Despite his cheeky demeanour, he was always happy and never seen without a smile. His bravery was unwavering, and throughout countless rounds of treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation, he never lost faith and always found a reason to smile.

Among Charlie’s many passions and interests – including his love for the Melbourne Football Club, with whom he was fortunate to spend quality time before his passing – art was one of his greatest. Charlie nurtured this passion during his time with Challenge, working closely with our qualified art therapist. Art gave him a new outlet and freedom to express himself in ways that cancer often restricted. This creative release was transformative for both Charlie and his family.

Recognising the profound impact that art had on Charlie, his family has partnered with Challenge to establish this scholarship in his honour.
