Celebrating its eighth year, the annual Werribee Mazda Challenge Golf Day is set to take place on Friday 2 March 2018.

The event, organised each year by Yarraville locals, Tony and Helen Barr, raises much-needed funds to support children and families living with cancer. Tony and Helen were first introduced to Challenge when their nephew, Nick, was diagnosed with cancer in 1996. Since Nick’s diagnosis 22 years ago, both Tony and Helen have been invaluable members of the greater Challenge family and the Golf Day is one of the many ways they demonstrate their support of our program.

The funds raised from this event are directed specifically towards providing support and assistance to families living in the local area who are travelling the cancer journey.

Sunshine local residents, Jennifer and Chris Navarro, know first-hand the work of Challenge and how families living with cancer can be supported. Their daughter, Christa, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 2011 and during this time, Challenge was able to assist the Navarro family in many ways. From parent retreats to family day events, Challenge helped the Navarro family through this difficult time. Christa was recently awarded a Musical Moments Trust Scholarship to further her love of music.

Challenge’s goal is to support as many families living with cancer as possible and events like the Werribee Mazda Challenge Golf Day help to create awareness of the programs and services Challenge provides within the community.

People of all ages and golfing abilities are welcome to enjoy this event, which guarantees a fantastic day on the green.
