Growing up, did you ever dream of spending a night in a hotel room without your parents, where you could run-a-muck with your closest friends, watch movies without being told when to go to bed, feast on delicious treats and have an endless array of activities and games at your fingertips…?
Well, here at Challenge, we sure did… which is why we created the annual Slumber Party and after this year’s display of events, it is clear to see that it continues to be one of Challenge’s most-loved activities!
On the second Sunday of the July school holidays, Pullman Melbourne on the Park opened its ballroom doors to 200 excited little faces! PJ’s on and pillows in hand, our Challenge kids said a quick goodbye to their parents and set off for what was bound to be a night full of fun!
Kicking off the night with a delicious feast, the kids filled their bellies before heading off to create their very own Build-A-Bear to join in on all the slumber fun! With their new furry friend in hand the kids got to enjoy everything else on offer; from face-painting, arcade games, an epic movie marathon, to witnessing the jaw-dropping magic tricks from our favourite magician, Crazy Pete; there was no shortage of activities to keep all entertained!
This year, Hugh Goddard and Ray Connellan from St Kilda Football Club showed up to put a smile on the faces of the footy fans! From taking photos with the kids, signing autographs and even taking on contenders in the Fortnite battle, we aren’t too sure if it was the players or the kids who had more fun!
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved for ensuring that this event continues to bring a smile to the faces of 200 Challenge kids!
To Irkin and the team at Pullman – Melbourne on the park, Short story, Jude from Jamberry nail art, Crazy Pete, Carol Rothschild, Chill Zone, build a Bear, Zax Amusements, Australian Shakespeare company and of course our amazing team of volunteers, we truly could not do it without you!
We will see you again in 2019 (until then, we will be catching up on lost-sleep)!
