Rising bright and early Saturday morning, 50 of our junior troops packed their bags and embarked on an adventure like no other!
Setting up base camp at ‘Camp Manyung’ in Mt Eliza, we hosted our annual Junior Camp and it was an absolute blast. From the flying fox and jumping castles to building bears and damper baking, there was never a dull moment.
Camp is not camp without some exclusive, special guests which included the local Police and Fire Brigade who showed us all the ropes and tricks to be a successful Police Officer or Fireman. It is fair to say, once they arrived, all our troops were on their best behaviour.
That behaviour didn’t last long, however, once our little troopers were adorned with capes and gifted their powers to become Mt Eliza’s very own superheroes! From Spiderman to Wonder Woman, we were in the company of some of the world’s most powerful and courageous characters. Setting the world alight with their fierce strength and enormous power, this was undoubtedly the highlight of the entire weekend!
For many of these kids, this camp was a significant milestone in their lives as it marked their first time away from home. Though some were perhaps a little apprehensive at the start, it didn’t take long for those nerves to subside and once the fun all started to kick off, there was no looking back.
Stepping out of your comfort zone can be one of life’s hardest tasks, but there is nothing more rewarding than this. To continue growing and improving ourselves, we need to take risks and that is exactly what these kids showed us on the weekend and we were so proud to see it.
All our junior troops really are the superheroes of our lives and through their courage and strength, we are certain they will continue to inspire so many in the years to come.
A BIG thank you to everyone involved in making Junior Camp such a success – you all know who you are, and we really could not have done it without you!
