The tumultuous and stormy weather of Melbourne did not hold back our Challenge kids on Hamilton Camp from having the time of their lives! Though the sun teased itself at the beginning of the camp, the rain and howling wind that soon followed was not enough to deter them from four days of adventure.
On the Thursday, all our Hamilton campers assembled at the Challenge Family Centre oozing excitement as they got to know their fellow troopers. Unable to contain everyone’s eagerness, we were quick to set off to our destination.
It wasn’t until the following day, however, that all the fun really kicked off. From soaring in the clouds with the Hamilton Aero Club Victoria to cruising the waters of Lake Hamilton, the group truly did it all this weekend. We met some of Australia’s creepiest crawlies at the live petting zoo; we visited the Ansett Museum and Pastoral Museum; and, we danced away at Challenge’s exclusive disco – just to name a few of the many exciting things we got up to!
The camp would not have been such a success without the many helping hands that contributed to ensure the weekend ran smoothly. We would like to thank our volunteers, the service clubs, organisations and individuals in the Hamilton community for their contribution and Ann Hayes for her organisation of the camp. The team at Challenge is incredibly grateful!
We look forward to being back next year in 2018!
