There were mixed feelings in the Challenge office last week as we held our final playgroup session of the year. Saying goodbye is always a bittersweet experience and after two years of spending every Wednesday morning painting, singing and running around the Challenge Family Centre, we said farewell to some of our playgroup kiddies as they embark on the next chapter of their lives – school.
To send the kids off in style and celebrate the festive season, we held the Challenge Playgroup’s Christmas Spectacular! All the kids and parents showed up for their final playgroup session, dressed in colours of red and green and full of Christmas spirit.
From singing Christmas carols to eating cupcakes and fairy bread, the day was jampacked with fun. It wasn’t until Santa arrived, however, when it all really started to kick off. He tiptoed his way into the Challenge Playroom in his vibrant red suit and a brimming sack of presents, ready to surprise and reward all the kids on his good list with some early Christmas gifts. It was pleasing to see that all our kids must be behaving as everyone went home with new presents and toys to share with their family!
It will be strange in 2018 not seeing the many faces we have come to love and cherish every Wednesday, but there are bigger and better things awaiting them. We will continue to look after new and old families next year and our door is always open for past playgroup participants.
It has been an honour to watch you all grow, learn and build new friendships; and we are certain you will all go on to succeed and thrive as you take the next big step towards school!
A big thank you to our Challenge Playgroup Coordinator, Sonia! You are such a ray of sunshine for all these families and your lively energy and compassionate attitude is what makes playgroup such a success!
Wishing all our families a very Merry Christmas!
