The Dreaded Shave
Jack Wilson – Australian professional golfer and Challenge ambassador – has had his signature dreadlocks for many years, but this December he is willing to shave them all off for a cause close to his heart.
As part of the PGA of Australia’s Yellow Day being held on Friday 20 December at the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast, Jack will be putting his dreads on the line to show his support for young people living with cancer who are struggling with the various physical and mental changes of cancer treatment.
All funds raised from “The Dreaded Shave” will go specifically towards the manufacture of real hair wigs for young people who have lost their hair due to treatment. It might seem small, but the gift of confidence can sometimes be the difference they need.
The cost required to make a single wig is often out of reach for a family already burdened with treatment expenses, but the true value of a wig is invaluable.
Jack has promised to shave his dreads if we can raise $20,000, which will make at least five real hair wigs. If we manage to raise significantly more than that amount, his beard may also come off too!
Please get behind this great initiative and give Jack a new image, which in turn will help us to positively impact the lives of young people living with cancer.
