30 Years of Challenge Ball

News: 13 October 2022

After three years of disruptions and cancellations, our beloved Challenge Ball community came together for our annual fundraising event to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

A tremendous amount of goodwill and generosity filled Pullman Melbourne on the Park’s grand ballroom as everyone gathered to have fun and make a difference.

MC extraordinaire and Challenge Chairman Tom Gleisner led the evening with the enchanting talents of our favourite performers, Transit Dance, and Velvet Corporation. Jacoténe, Triple J’s Unearthed High winner, also performed and brought the house down with her incredible voice. The young, up-and-coming artist wowed our audience with her vocal prowess, and what’s more touching, Jacoténe was a Challenge member, having travelled her cancer journey.

Amid all the dazzling entertainment, Jess Walsh – our guest speaker – took to the stage and spoke of the reality of childhood cancer, sharing her experience as a sibling. Jess spoke with eloquence and emotion that touched every guest’s heart and reminded us of the importance of the event.

Our guests sang, danced, and rallied to ensure the 2022 Challenge Ball was successful. Everyone dug deep to support Challenge and our mission to deliver programs to children and families living with cancer.

The Challenge Ball would not be possible without the love, commitment and dedication of a small group of people, the Challenge Ball Committee. This group works tirelessly for 12 months to help bring this event together. We would like to congratulate them and acknowledge their amazing input.

We thank our volunteers, who generously share their time with us to help orchestrate a successful event. They are the backbone of this organisation, and we are always very grateful.

A big thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters who generously donated auction items and provided goods and services – their contribution helped make this event an outstanding success.

What look forward to having a ball in 2023.
