Waterskills Camp

15 March 2022

It’s been a long time coming, but we did it! The breezy and sparkling waters of the Murray River beckoned, and we answered its call. The first weekend in March saw us successfully hold our annual Waterskills Camp, which was also our first camp since covid lockdowns put a halt to many of our face-to-face services.

Though the rain tried its best to dampen our spirits, there was no chance it would stop all the fun we set out to have. It was a weekend full of memories we will cherish forever. Kneeboarding, wakeboarding and tubing were all on the agenda and everyone had a chance to put their water skills to the test. It didn’t matter if you were a first-time “donuter” or an experienced water-skier, each Challenge member had the chance to shine by trying something new and outside their comfort zone.

After the year we have all had, up and down full of various obstacles, it was such a delight to be back in the community of Moama doing that which we love most: bringing more smiles to teens. A big thank you to the entire community for welcoming us with such open arms. Special mentions to Moama Bakery, Sonya and Michael from the Foundry Hotel, the Moama RSL team, and to the amazing crew at Moama On The Murray – you all made this weekend what it was. Another special shout out to Mick Viney and The Boat Guys, who all went above and beyond to help bring this camp together – you are champions and your support is unheralded.

A big thank you to all the volunteers for generously sharing their time and helping our campers feel safe.

The weekend would simply not be possible without you!Congratulations to Tom – our Camps and Activities Coordinator! Tom has been hanging out to hold his first camp and this weekend he finally got to do it!

We look forward to hopefully many more camps like this one ahead! Stay tuned as there are more activities to look forward to in the coming weeks…
