What attributes are we looking for in a Challenge volunteer?

Someone who can offer…

  • compassion to others around them
  • motivation and enthusiasm when on Challenge events
  • respect for others' race, beliefs and cultures
  • friendship and support to fellow volunteers and campers
  • an understanding of children's needs
  • to respect and abide by the values, beliefs and rules of Challenge
  • a consideration for the health and safety of children around them
  • good communication skills
  • a positive attitude
  • a good role model

If you think you can offer any number of these fine attributes to Challenge, read on to learn how you can become a Challenge volunteer today!

To become a volunteer at Challenge please follow these simple steps:

Step 1 :  Download the volunteer application form and police check which are attached to this page. Alternatively call Challenge House to have these forms sent out to you.

Step 2 :  Complete the volunteer application form and police check.

Step 3 : Arrange a cheque or money order for payment of your police check and attach this to your form (NOTE: Challenge volunteers only need to pay $14.50, NOT the full price stated on the police check).  Please also send a photocopy of your driver's licence or another form of ID if you do not have one.

Step 4 :  Send your volunteer application form and police check back to Challenge.

Challenge will then contact you once your police check has been approved.

Further information will be sent to you including upcoming training dates and the Working With Children (WWF) Check.

Step 5 :  Call Challenge to register at the New Volunteer Training Session which all new volunteers must attend before they can participate in any Challenge events or activities.

Step 6 :  Complete the WWC Check

Once we have received your WWC Check receipt and you have attended the New Volunteer Training you will be sent regular Expression of Interest forms, where you can apply to volunteer at a range of Challenge camps, activity days or fundraisers. And this is when the fun really begins…
