Challenge Playgroup, which is held weekly, was developed to allow our two to five-year-old members the opportunity to mix with other kids in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment.
Because of the increased risk of infection during treatment, patients are unable to attend community crèches and kindergartens, limiting their interaction with other kids. Knowing that Challenge Playgroup is only attended by other Challenge families, who face the same health risks, and are very conscious of not attending even with a cold, means that parents can feel very safe and relaxed about attending while their child is having treatment.
Each Monday in the school term, from 10am until 12pm, a group of young Challenge members visit Challenge House with their mum and/or dad, to participate in a range of activities, including painting, playdough, music, games, drawing, playing on the indoor slide, and so much more!
Challenge Playgroup also provides a great opportunity for mums and dads to meet and discuss common issues, and to provide much-needed support to one another.
If you know of a Challenge member who would like to attend Challenge Playgroup, or your family would like to attend, please phone the Challenge office on (03) 9329 8474 to let us know you will be coming!
