Why was The Christopher Wise Education Scholarship Created?
In 2002, Christopher Wise lost his battle with cancer. His parents, Sue and Philip, and sister Claire wanted to find a way to make a difference to the lives of other children living with cancer or another life-threatening blood disorder, while honouring Chris' memory.
Chris was a young man who embraced every day with great gusto. He was passionate, energetic and enjoyed life to the fullest. When diagnosed with cancer in 2001, Chris continued to be positive, never allowing his illness to affect the way he approached life.
Throughout Chris' treatment, school was always a place where he found great comfort, and a place he could be with his friends. Although Chris' treatment was rigorous, school and achieving his goals were always high priorities. He simply loved to learn.
The Christopher Wise Education Scholarship was established in 2004 as a way to assist young people undergoing treatment to achieve their educational goals.
