Challenge membership is free to all young people aged from birth up to the age of 19-years-old, who are living with cancer or another life-threatening blood disorder. Members also include brothers, sisters and parent/s or primary carers.
Challenge offers services 365 days a year to families, which include camps, family activities, hospital and parent support, holiday accommodation and an extensive ticketing program, all of which help to support children and families.
Challenge funds hospital support programs in the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Medical Centre, which aim to make hospital stays a little brighter. We do this by providing activities and services that help to relieve the boredom which is often felt during stays on the ward.
Our facilities at Challenge House also enable us to offer Challenge Playgroup to kids aged between two and five-years-old.
Challenge recognises that not only children experience difficulties following their diagnosis - it affects the whole family. We have also identified that women and men deal with these issues differently.
With parents requiring separate forms of support, Challenge has created two parent programs: Women for Challenge (WFC) and Dads' Ultimate Challenge (DUC) Club to meet their varying needs. Click here for more information.
Challenge relies heavily on volunteers to continue providing our valuable programs and services and we are constantly seeking support from new volunteers. Click here to find out more.
